Link from US News and World Report on the SAT

Interesting article from US News and World Report.

They definitely recommend taking the SAT multiple times, mostly because it is a proven fact that students' scores improve on the second and third efforts.

Familiarity is a good thing when taking Multiple Choice tests.

Summer Prep Work

English: Logo of NPR News.
This summer, it will be tempting to late school work slide into oblivion. While I can't say that I'm hard at reading and working for school all the livelong day, I will say that exercising your "little gray cells" can help keep up good thinking habits. Practicing good critical thinking skills can go a long way toward keeping you ready for the next big SAT event coming up in October. Here are a few suggestions - read something more complicated than the funny pages or the sports section. Simply keeping up with world events via a weekly news magazine is more useful than letting your brain get washed away by celebrity gossip and sports team signings. Additionally, try listening to several minutes of the local NPR news to catch a slightly more elevated discussion of events, often with a more complex vocabulary. These are just a couple of suggestions that have helped me to keep mentally sharper over the summer months. Happy thinking!

Online Video Tutoring

A New Tutoring Option!

3J Test Prep is breaking new ground with students in the Atlanta area. For the last several weeks, we have been working remotely with students in the Atlanta Metro area, rather than convening for in-person tutoring.

Due to the difficulty of making everyone's schedules work together so that we could meet for in-person tutoring, we have developed the ability for students to receive high-quality tutoring directly in their own homes. We highly recommend Google's Hangout service, which is available to anyone with a Gmail account. Students and tutors have been able to register for Google Plus, which then makes available "Hangout". (For more information on Hangout, Click Here.)

When students and tutors are hanging out, they are able to see and hear one another, as well as exchange onscreen information in the form of Microsoft Office Suite materials. Some students have reported being unable to view onscreen sharing, and so they have received digital copies of the materials via emails. In this way, everyone can literally be on the same page without even being in the same room.

Expanding Service

3J Test Prep is pleased to make two significant announcements!

First, we are pleased to explain our virtual tutoring. We can schedule online tutoring for students who have access to the internet and a web camera. Students with Gmail accounts should access Google Plus (at the upper left of a Google Account screen once you have signed into Gmail). Students without Gmail accounts will find them very easy to set up, once you have internet access. Once you have accessed and established your Google Plus account, we will be able to use Google's Hangout feature, which allows for text and video tutoring. By making our tutoring available via the internet, we hope to help more clients in more places.

Second, we are pleased to announce the expansion of the 3J Test Prep test and services. We would like to welcome Elizabeth, a former Spanish teacher. She has a background in teaching all levels of Spanish, K-12, and has an excellent record of preparing students for the AP Spanish Language Exam and SAT II Subject Test in Spanish. She has taught in both public and private schools, as well as provided tutoring for home school students. After taking some time to start a family, Elizabeth is eager to provide Spanish tutoring on a limited basis for interested students.

You can place an order for online Spanish tutoring by clicking on the PayPal button below. You can order tutoring for SAT and other writing helps by clicking here.
